Know what people mean when they talk about a schnauzer skirt
On schnauzers, a skirt usually means longer body coat hanging below a shorter clipped jacket, often with a fairly obvious line between the two. Some owners like the extra fluff at first glance, but that is not automatically the cleanest or most practical option for the breed.
The problem is not simply having leg furnishings. Schnauzers are supposed to keep those longer accents. The problem starts when the side coat drops heavily enough that the dog loses its neat, sturdy outline and starts carrying extra maintenance through the belly and flanks.
- Leg furnishings are normal on a schnauzer.
- A heavy side skirt is different from a balanced furnishing line.
- The outline should still look tidy and purposeful from the side.
